Construction Inspector

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Gray and Osborne is hiring a Construction Inspector to support municipal construction projects in Western Washington. Expected 2026 project locations include the North Puget Sound area, with work in Snohomish County.

This role is a strong fit for an experienced construction or inspection professional with a background in water, sanitary sewer, stormwater, transportation, utility construction, roadway construction, or municipal construction inspection.

The Construction Inspector will provide field observation, verify work against plans and specifications, prepare project documentation, and help keep communication clear between the contractor, owner, and engineer.

This is a seasonal, project-to-project position. Work typically occurs from early spring through late fall each year.

  • Provide construction inspection for municipal construction projects in Western Washington
  • Observe field work and verify conformance with project plans, specifications, and contract requirements
  • Prepare accurate field documentation, reports, and project records
  • Communicate clearly with contractors, owners, engineers, and project stakeholders
  • Support construction management activities for public agency projects
  • Inspect work related to water storage, pump stations, roadway improvements, sanitary sewer, stormwater, transportation, and utility systems, depending on project needs

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • 5 or more years of experience in water, sanitary sewer, stormwater, transportation, utility construction, or construction inspection
  • Municipal construction inspection experience is preferred
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work well with contractors, owners, engineers, and project teams in a collaborative manner
  • Ability to work independently in the field and maintain accurate documentation
  • Municipal or utility construction inspection: 5 years (Required)

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

  • Anticipated compensation range: $38 to $50 per hour, depending on experience
  • Paid holidays
